Prominent Singer of Sindh Sohrab Faqeer

Sohrab faqeer khaskheli was born in 1934 at district khairpur, village talpur wadda. His Father’s Name Hamal Faqeer, Who was also a good singer. He was a sufi singer of the Sindh who studied up to class two YAKTARO (Music Instrument).

He started singing with his father and uncles at the age of eight years. Seeing the growing Love of Music His Father sent him to Khan Sahib Kheti Khan at Rohri where he learnt the lessons of singing. His teachers used to say that a singer can not sing until he learnt to play Tablo or Dholak (music Instrument)

Therefore, He learnt to play these instruments along with singning. 

After sometimes, he returned to his village at the tomb of his murshid, Khush khair Muhammad Hesbani, and sang his first song “kadhee qadan kaya khan baahirtadhain aeendai har jaey haq nazarfollowed by many other songs at different places.
                                             Once He was singing at the tomb of pirSofi Ali Muhammad Talpur, his song was liked by the Station  Director Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Khairpur (Radio Pakistan Khairpur) Allah Bux Shah bukhari  the booked him for radio. 
                          The first song which he sang on Radio Pakistan khairpur was “galiyaan prem nagar deyanhazrat ishq ghumayum(گليان پريم ننگر ديان حضرت عشق گهمايم )” in this way he was introduced with Sindh.
Faqeer was a leading mystical singer who sang in his particular style. When he started Singing, the people would dance hysterically on the tune of music. He also performed at London, Norway, Belgium, Germany, Holland, France, Denmark, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Iran and India. He received several Prices for his art.

In 1991 he received SachalAward and He was recipient of Pride of Performance Award (1999)He died of kidney disease on October 23, 2009 there at Talpur wada near Kotdiji in October 23, 2009.
